Treadwell's EX-Series® FRP Solution For Quench Tower
Faced with the harsh and highly corrosive conditions within their quench towers, an oil and gas client sought a durable and long-term framework upgrade to sustain operational efficiency. The harsh environment, characterised by exposure large amount of gases and precipitation of impurities posed significant challenges to conventional materials such as steel, which are prone to rapid degradation, rust, and structural weakening over time. To overcome these issues, a more resilient and low-maintenance solution was required.
Leveraging on industry-leading technical expertise, Treadwell recommended the use of RailEX® FRP handrails and GratEX® FRP grating—both engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of the facility. These Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products provide a superior alternative to traditional materials, offering a lightweight yet structurally robust system that simplifies transportation and installation. FRP does not corrode, warp, or degrade under prolonged exposure to aggressive chemicals, significantly extending the operational lifespan of infrastructure in such harsh environments.
Beyond durability, the implementation of FRP offers a range of operational benefits. The ease of installation reduces labour costs and project timelines, while the minimal maintenance requirements translate to long-term cost savings by reducing the need for frequent inspections, repairs, and replacements.
By integrating FRP products into their structure, the client benefitted from a cost-effective, high-performance solution specifically designed to endure the rigors of corrosive industrial applications. This strategic upgrade not only enhanced the structural integrity of the quench towers but also support long-term operational efficiency, making FRP the optimal choice for demanding oil and gas environments.
