Port Albert Handrails
Port Albert Handrails
A charming port town, Port Albert is a destination for fishing and learning about the history of the locale. From the mid-1800s, Port Albert was the supply port for Gippsland’s pioneers and still operates as a commercial port. A popular spot in the summer, people can visit the maritime museum, follow walking trails or enjoy boat tours, and birdwatching.
Treadwell was engaged to provide the handrails for a set of stone steps.
Project Challenges
- The exposed marine environment accelerates corrosion on structures in the vicinity.
- Metal was not the ideal solution as the metal handrails would get too heated. The chosen material had to have low thermal conductivity so that it would be safe to use even in high temperatures, while remaining robust in the outdoor environment.
- Structure had to be easily, and quickly repaired, if required.

Scope of Work: Supply RailEX® ROUND Handrails
Treadwell Products :
- EX-Series® RailEX® ROUND Handrails
Treadwell Solution
- Treadwell’s RailEX® ROUND handrails are constructed with superior resin systems, making our products corrosion resistant as well as rot-proof.
- Constructed from superior resin systems which include UV inhibitors and fire retardant additives, RailEX® handrails are ideal for various environments and climates.
- FRP is naturally non-conductive, making it safe to use even when exposed to high weather temperatures.
- With the aim of minimising the cost of maintenance and repairs, damaged components can be easily replaced with spare parts and our readily available stock.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilizing it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
