Pencil Pine Falls Track
Pencil Pine Falls, Tasmania – Accessible from the Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park, this is a must-see for all visitors. The track is a fully constructed boardwalk that guides you to a lookout to view the waterfall, which is particularly spectacular after periods of rain. Visitors have sighted wombats grazing in the area amongst other native wildlife.
Treadwell was engaged to supply the grating stair landings and stair treads for this walking track.
Project Challenges
- Being in a nature reserve, the area covered by the track had to have ventilation to allow vegetation to thrive, as well as allow access for the native wildlife.
- Being installed in a damp environment, the material had to remain robust and be corrosion resistant.
- Selected material had to be shaped according to the structure.
