Aquaculture Fish Farm
Aquaculture Fish Farm
As a desert climate and environment, water conservation is especially important in Australia. This aquaculture project is a water recirculation system that uses water more than once in the same unit, after it has been treated and renewed. A sustainable farming system, it uses minimal water and energy, thus having minor environmental impact. Specialising in fish farms, these tanks have a network of inlets and outlets designed to ensure the fast removal of waste and uneaten food pellets and provide optimal conditions for the fish.
Treadwell was engaged to supply a combination of decking, structural profiles and handrails in the construction of these tanks.
Project Challenges
- Indoor marine environment.
- Indoor installation meant that heavy machinery could not be utilised.
- Products would be exposed to a unique indoor climate controlled environment.

Treadwell Solution
- A combination of GratEX® panels for the decking, GratEX® stair treads for the steps, RailEX® handrails, and ArchitEX™ structural beams were used to create a complete FRP solution.
- With a proven track record of performing beyond expectations in similar environments, Tredawell FRP products provide durability and dependability.
- Treadwell’s ArchitEX™ EXsemble FRP fasteners were utilised to provide a robust and secure solution for this hyper-corrosive installation.
- RailEX® is assemble using a zero weld method of putting the system together, which greatly lowers the chances of corrosion.
- There is no need for any hot works permit when installing Treadwell FRP products. This increases the safety factor by eliminating toxic fumes, welding in wet areas and fire risk hazards.
